ENGLISH TRANSLATION

On the Ninth of June, Twenty Fifteen, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State presented the Staff of Office to Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo as the King of Akure making him the forty sixth King.

Akure did not have a King eighteen months after the Forty fifth Deji of Akure, King Adebiyi Adesida joined his Ancestors, the Stool became vacant, hence Princess Adetutu Adesida Ojei became the Regent of Akure till the recent presentation of Staff of Office to Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo.  Even though late King Adebiyi Adesida’s reign only lasted three years, his reign was peaceful for the people of Akure.

According to a prominent Akure indigene, Dr. Wumi Akintide’s write-up on an online newspaper – Sahara Reporter “Reasons to Celebrate His Royal Highness, the Deji of Akure Odundun II” pointed out that it was not the first time Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo was invited from Abroad to contest the Kingship.  This happened ten years ago, but many of the Kingmakers have sold out, having received bribe, hence their decision was tainted.  They selected a man popularly called “Ileri” without verifying his claim as a Prince, but when Akure people rejected their choice, the deposed Prince Adepoju Adesina was invited from London and crowned instead of Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo that could have been selected.

According to one of the Yoruba adage, “The world cannot change Destiny, but can pull back the hands of time”, after ten years, the Kingmakers selected Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo among twelve Princes from Osupa Family, he then received the Staff of Office with ease.

May the Almighty grant him a long reign and may King Kole Aladetoyinbo’s time be peaceful for all the people of Akure (Amen).
