Àwọn ti ó ndu ipò Òṣèlú fi si sún idibò siwájú polongo lati rọ àwọn ará ilú fún ibò wọn. Eleyi fa inira fún àwọn awakọ̀ pàtàki ni ilú Èkó, ó si tún ba ọrọ̀ ajé jẹ́. Ọjọ́ Idibò naa ló wọlé dé wẹ́rẹ́ yi nitori ó di ọ̀la. ENGLISH TRANSLATION
The Nigerian Government postponed the election date from February fourteen to March twenty-eight, 2015 because the Military declared that they could not guarantee security during the earlier scheduled Electoral Date in order to face the fight with the terrorist group known as “Boko Haram”.
The public reacted to the election postponement in anger, but when the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Attahiru Jega explained that the live of electoral workers are very important hence he could not risk their lives. As a result, he pleaded with the public to accept the new electoral dates.
Those vying for political positions seized the opportunity to extend their campaign to canvass for the people’s vote. These caused hardship for commuters especially in Lagos and it affected commerce. The new electoral date is now here and will be held the next day. If the people want “Change” from suffering as a result of no light, water or decaying modern infrastructure, we appeal to responsible Nigerians to go out in large numbers to exercise their voting rights to elect those they believe could serve the people well.
