Oriṣiriṣi ọ̀nà ni enia lè gbà dé àjò, ṣùgbọ́n eyi ti ó wọ́pò jù láyé òde òni ni lati wọ ọkọ̀ òfũrufú, bóyá lati lọ kọ́ ẹ̀kọ si, lati ṣe ìbẹ̀wò, lati lọ ṣiṣẹ́ tàbi lati lọ bá ẹbi gbé (fún àpẹrẹ: ìyàwó lọ bá ọkọ, ọkọ lọ bá ìyàwó, ìyá/bàbá lọ bá ọmọ tàbi ọmọ lọ bá bàbá). Gbogbo ọ̀nà yi ni Yorùbá ti lọ lati dé Ìlú-Ọba.

Àṣepọ̀ laarin ará Ìlú-Ọba àti Yorùbá ti lè ni ọgọrun ọdún, nitori eyi, kò si ibi ti enia dé ni Ìlú-Ọba ni pataki àwọn Olú-Ìlú, ti kò ri ẹni ti ó ńsọ èdè Yorùbá tàbi gbé irú ilú bẹ.  A ṣe akiyesi pé lati bi ọdún mẹwa sẹhin, àṣepọ̀ laarin ọmọ Yorùbá ni Ìlú-Ọba din kù.  Ni ìgbà kan ri, bi ọmọ Yorùbá bá ri ara, wọn a ki ara wọn.

Òwe Yorùbá ni “Ibi ti a ngbe la nse; bi a bá dé ìlú adẹ́tẹ̀ a di ìkúùkù”, àwọn ọ̀nà ti a lè fi ṣe ibi ti a ngbe: Ki ka ìwé nipa àṣà àti iṣẹ ìlú ti a nlọ ninu ìwé tàbi ṣe iwadi lori ayélujára; wiwa ibùgbé; lọ si Ilé-Ìjọ́sìn; Ọjà; Ọkọ̀ wiwọ̀ àti bẹ̃bẹ lọ.

Ẹ fi ojú sọ́nà fún àlàyé lori àwọn ọ̀nà ti enia lè lò lati tètè fi idi kalẹ̀ ni àjò.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

There are many lessons to be learnt from travelling.  One can travel for a short or long time in order to visit or establish in the foreign land.

There are various means of travelling for people, but the most common mode of transportation in the modern days is by Air transportation.  Whether the traveller is going to acquire further education; visiting; economic migrant or going to join family members (such as: wife joining the husband or husband joining the wife; children joining their parents or parents joining their children).

Cooperation between the United Kingdom and Yoruba people dated back to over hundred years, hence, there is no part of the United Kingdom particularly in the major cities, and it is easy to find someone speaking Yoruba or residing in such cities.  It is observed that in about ten years past, relationship between Yoruba people living abroad has greatly reduced.  Sometime ago, when a Yoruba person see another, they exchange greetings.

According to the Yoruba Proverb book by “Oyekan Owomoyela” translated thus “One should live according to the customs and fashions of the place where one finds oneself in; if one lands in the city of lepers, one should make a fist (conceal ones fingers)”, here are some of the ways to live according to the customs and fashions of the place one is visiting or migrating to: read books on the customs and fashions of the place or find out on the internet; where to find accommodation; places of worship; markets; transportation system etc.
